Cookie Policy

1. About this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Genesis Utilities uses cookies and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device.
Genesis Utilities is a trading name of Genesis UK (North West) Ltd, company number 14182424.
The rules apply not only to traditional cookies but also to technologies such as:
- local storage;
- scripts;
- tags;
- tracking pixels;
- advertising technologies; and
- similar storage and access technologies.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that a website may store on your device.
They can be used for purposes such as:
- operating a website;
- remembering preferences;
- maintaining security;
- measuring website use; and
- measuring or supporting online advertising.
3. Our cookie categories
Strictly Necessary
These technologies are used where required for the website to operate correctly or to provide a feature you have requested.
They may include technologies used for:
- cookie-preference storage;
- security;
- basic application operation;
- forms;
- fraud or abuse prevention; and
- essential technical functionality.
Strictly Necessary technologies cannot be switched off through our preference centre where they are genuinely required for the service.
Analytics
Analytics technologies help us understand how the website is being used.
This may include information about:
- pages visited;
- website interactions;
- device/browser characteristics;
- traffic sources; and
- successful enquiry events.
Our current consent interface keeps Analytics off by default until you choose to allow it.
Although UK law now provides limited exemptions for certain statistical storage/access technologies where strict conditions are met, Genesis Utilities currently takes the more conservative approach of allowing users to control our Analytics category through the preference centre.
Advertising / Marketing
Advertising technologies may be used to:
- measure Google Ads campaigns;
- attribute conversions;
- understand whether advertising generates enquiries;
- support advertising optimisation; and
- where introduced and consented to, provide advertising or remarketing functionality.
Advertising / Marketing is off by default.
Advertising storage/access technologies are not intended to be activated until you have provided the appropriate consent.
4. Google tags and Consent Mode
The website uses a Google tag and Google Consent Mode.
Before you make a choice, our configuration is intended to send consent signals indicating:
- ad_storage — denied;
- ad_user_data — denied;
- ad_personalization — denied;
- analytics_storage — denied.
If you change your preferences, the relevant consent signals are updated accordingly.
Consent Mode does not replace our obligation to obtain consent where consent is legally required.
5. Your choices
When you first visit the website, you can choose:
Reject non-essential
This keeps Analytics and Advertising / Marketing disabled.
Manage preferences
This allows you to choose categories separately.
Accept all
This allows Analytics and Advertising / Marketing technologies.
We do not make access to the ordinary website conditional on accepting non-essential advertising cookies.
6. Changing your mind
You may change your cookie preferences at any time through the Cookie Settings link on the website.
Withdrawing consent should be as straightforward as giving it.
Changing your preference does not necessarily delete information already lawfully processed, but it changes how relevant technologies are used going forward.
7. Consent-preference storage
The website stores your cookie preference using local browser storage so that we can remember your choice.
Our current implementation uses a preference record associated with:
- genesis_cookie_consent_v1
This record may store:
- Strictly Necessary status;
- Analytics choice;
- Advertising choice; and
- the time at which the choice was made.
This storage is required to remember and apply your privacy preferences.
8. Google
Where you consent to Analytics or Advertising / Marketing, information may be processed by Google in connection with the relevant Google services.
Google may process technical information associated with website and advertising interactions in accordance with its own terms and privacy documentation.
Genesis Utilities does not intend to send ordinary enquiry-form personal information such as names, email addresses, telephone numbers or free-text project descriptions as standard Google Analytics/Google Ads event properties.
9. Current technology register
The exact cookies and identifiers set by Google can vary depending on:
- Google configuration;
- browser;
- consent choice;
- Google product features; and
- later changes made by Google.
Before launch and whenever tracking technology changes, Genesis Utilities should maintain a current cookie/technology register.
At minimum, that register should identify:
- technology/provider;
- purpose;
- category;
- duration where applicable; and
- whether consent is required.
10. Third-party content
If we add third-party embedded services in future, such as:
- videos;
- maps;
- social-media content;
- chat services; or
- additional advertising providers,
they may use their own storage/access technologies.
Where consent is required, those technologies should not be activated until the appropriate choice has been made.
11. Browser controls
Most browsers also allow you to control cookies through their settings.
Blocking all cookies or storage technologies may affect some website functions.
Our website preference centre is the recommended way to manage Genesis Utilities' non-essential categories.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when:
- technologies change;
- Google Ads functionality changes;
- providers change;
- applicable law or regulatory guidance changes; or
- our purposes change.
The latest version will appear on this page.
